Terms, privacy, and the rules
Terms of Service
That One Actor (thatoneactor.com; thatoneactress.com points to the same place) is run by Michael Aron. By creating a site you agree to these terms.
Who can sign up
You must be 18 or older, and you confirm that when you sign up. You need an invite code during the founders period. One site per person.
Your content stays yours
You own your headshots, bio, credits, and everything else you add. You give us permission to store it, resize images, and show it on your site and, only if you turn it on, in the directory. That permission ends when you delete your site.
Only upload photos you have the right to use. Headshot photographers often require a credit; add it in the photographer field of your Headshots section.
Founders
Founders (the first actors, who joined with an invite code) get their site, including a custom domain and new features, free for as long as the service runs.
Paid plan
Everyone else pays $39 a year, before building their site. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card. The plan renews every year until you cancel, which you can do anytime under Plan, Manage billing in your editor. After cancelling, your site stays up until the end of the year you paid for. All payments are final and non-refundable, including any unused part of a year.
If a yearly renewal fails and is not fixed within 7 days, your site shows a short holding page instead of your content. Nothing is deleted for 90 days, and paying brings it straight back. We email you before any of this happens.
Your web address
Addresses are first come, first served. We may change or reclaim an address that impersonates someone, is misleading, or breaks the Acceptable Use rules below.
Logging in
You log in with a 6-digit code sent to your email, or by text if you added a mobile number. Your private edit link also works; keep it to yourself. If you think someone else has it, email us and we will switch it off and issue a new one.
We can suspend sites
We may suspend or remove a site that breaks these terms, usually after an email to you. Illegal content comes down right away.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep sites fast and online, but the service is provided as is. We are not liable for lost work, missed auditions, or indirect damages. Keep your own copies of your headshots and résumé.
Leaving
You can ask us to delete your site at any time. We remove it, your photos, and your personal details within 7 days. Backups age out within 30 days.
Text messages
That One Actor sends two kinds of text messages, and only to people who ask for them: login codes, when you add a mobile number to your site, and your founder invite link, when you tick "Text me my invite link" on the Request a founder spot form at thatoneactor.com. An invite request gets one text. Login codes come only when you ask to log in. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts, and HELP for help, or email admin@thatoneactor.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Texting is never required to get a site; everything also works by email.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will email you before the change takes effect.
Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Your email address and invite code, to create your site, send your edit link, and send login codes.
- Your mobile number, only if you add one, to text you login codes. It is never shown on your site.
- If you request a founder spot: your name, email, and (only if you give it) your mobile number, so we can send your invite link by email, and by text if you tick "Text me my invite link".
- The date you confirmed you are 18 or older and agreed to these terms.
- Everything you put on your site: name, photos, credits, stats, links.
- The IP address used when your site was first created, for abuse prevention.
- Short-lived IP records (under 24 hours) to rate limit publishing and contact forms.
What we do not collect
No birth dates, no weight, and no card details (Stripe handles payments; we only keep a reference to your Stripe account and your plan dates). No advertising trackers, and the visit counts you see in your Stats panel use no cookies. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics on thatoneactor.com and on actor sites to see overall traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages they read. It uses cookies and is run by Google under Google's privacy policy. We have turned off its advertising features (Google signals and ad personalization). Visitors can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or any tracker blocker.
Visit counts
We count visits to actor sites so each actor can see their own numbers: page views, where visitors came from (such as a search engine or Casting Networks), and clicks on reels, photos, downloads, and links. We do this without cookies and without storing IP addresses. A visitor is counted once a day using a code that changes every day and cannot be turned back into who they are. Only the site's owner sees their numbers.
Photos
Every uploaded image is re-processed on our server, which removes hidden data such as camera details and GPS location.
Contact form
When someone uses the contact form on your site, the message is emailed to you with their address as the reply-to. Your email address is never shown to visitors. We do not keep a copy of the message on the site.
What is public
Anything you publish on your site is public and can be found by search engines. Visitors can download the headshots you show and your résumé, which is the point of a casting site. Hide a headshot if you do not want it shared. The directory listing is off unless you turn it on.
Where it lives
Sites, photos, and account details are stored on our own server in the United States and in its backups.
Services we use
Login codes and invite links by text are sent through Twilio, which receives your mobile number and the message for that purpose only. Email is sent from our own server. We do not use advertising or tracking services.
Text messaging privacy
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. That One Actor will not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Your mobile number is used only to send the login codes and invite link you asked for. Message frequency: an invite request gets one text, and login codes come only when you ask to log in. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help.
Your choices
You can edit or remove anything on your site yourself. To get a copy of your data or to delete your account, email admin@thatoneactor.com.
Acceptable Use
This is a professional platform for actors. Do not use it to:
- Pretend to be someone else, or use another actor's photos or credits.
- Post nudity, sexual content, hate, harassment, or threats.
- Post anything involving minors other than yourself as an adult.
- Upload material you do not have the rights to.
- Send spam through contact forms or use the service to sell unrelated products.
- Try to break into, overload, or scrape the service or other people's sites.
Report a site that breaks these rules to report@thatoneactor.com. Every site footer has a report link.
DMCA and takedowns
If you believe content on a That One Actor site infringes your copyright, email report@thatoneactor.com with:
- The web address of the page and a description of the work.
- Proof or a statement that you own the rights, or act for the owner.
- Your name, address, phone, and email.
- A statement, made in good faith and under penalty of perjury, that the use is not authorized and that your notice is accurate.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We remove or disable the material and notify the site owner. Owners who believe a takedown was a mistake may send a counter notice to the same address.
